This deployment is federally supported with the Energy Policy Act of 2005, supplemented with the passage of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 clearly states the utility companies are to make this technology available to its customers " upon customer request ." Our government DID NOT mandate the installation of "Smart Meters" on every home in this country. However, when OG&E shows up at your doorstep, they will try to make you think this "upgrade" is mandatory! The installers have gone as far as jumping fences and ignoring owner’s request/refusal to switch from the functional analog meter to a "Smart Meter". Our homes |
